Porcelain (ceramic) veneer

Veneers are thin shells that are bonded to the tooth surface. Although they can be made of different materials, porcelain is frequently used because of its durability and realistic appearance. Veneers are a more conservative alternative to crowns since they require less removal of the tooth's original surface. Veneers can create straighter, whiter and better looking teeth. Porcelain veneers can be used to correct imperfections in the structure, colour and positioning of the teeth. They can also be used for closing gaps between teeth. Adding porcelain veneers to the outside surfaces of the upper premolar teeth your smile can be widen effectively.

Porcelain veneers

After cementation of veneers, patients may experience some sensitivity in the teeth, especially provoked by hot or cold substances. This sensitivity should decrease within two or three weeks. If you grind or clench your teeth while you sleep, you need a mouth guard to protect the teeth and veneers.

The care of veneers should be the same as for normal teeth: it includes daily brushing, flossing and periodic check-ups with a dentist. When given proper care, veneers can last for decades.
